Why Corlew Law?

Scott Corlew is a native of Pascagoula, Mississippi and a graduate of the Ole Miss and University of Mississippi School of Law. Scott is engaged in the general practice of law. He has extensive trial expirience in all courts in Mississippi both state and federal and has tried numerous cases both civil and criminal.  Although His practice focuses primarily on litigation he also has extensive experience with mediation and alternative dispute resolution, wills and estates, eminent domain, general business practice, contract disputes, and real property. Scott has tried in excess of 100 jury and non-jury trials. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates with over 40 jury trials. After Hurricane Katrina he participated as co-lead counsel in the very first jury trial concerning Hurricane Katrina, Broussard v. State Farm, and tried and defended several other insurers after Hurricane Katrina through jury trial.

He participated in the trial and appeal of Broussard v. State Farm, the first jury trial tried in Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina.  Scott participated in the litigation through the argument to the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit. He has litigated other cases including personal injury, bad faith insurance claims, maritime matters, and eminent domain where he successfully represented a property owner in having one of Mississippi’s eminent domain statutes overturned as unconstitutional. Further, Scott has lectured and provided guidance to other attorneys in their continuing legal education courses and also to clients in seminars dealing not only with their practice but also mediation and alternative dispute resolution. Scott is a trained mediator and arbitrator and has arbitrated and mediated dozens of cases. He has successfully handled complex mediation and arbitration for clients as an attorney as well.

Scott is currently licensed to practice law in all State and Federal courts in Mississippi.  He currently serves on the Fee Dispute Resolution Committee for the Mississippi Bar Association, and is a past board member of Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association.  He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a past president of the Jackson County Bar Association.  He is also currently a member of the ADR Section Committee for the Mississippi Bar, and is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Scott is married to Melanie Corlew, and they reside in Pascagoula, Mississippi with their three children. He is deeply rooted in the community and has served on many civic and church organizations including Kiwanas, Pascagoula Strategic Action Committee, First United Methodist Church, and has coached several Singing River Youth Soccer Clubs. He also served as the Professional Chairman of the United Way Fund Raising Campaign. He is a past Duke of the YMBC (Young Mens Business Clubs) Ball. He is also the current president of the Jackson County Bar Association.
